Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Two automated external defibrillators (AED) LIFEPAK® CR2 are now located in IOCB in case of sudden cardiac failure. They are stored in metal cabinets by the IOCB Lecture Hall on the 2nd floor of Building A, to the right of the glass door towards the cafeteria and on the right just behind the entrance glass sliding door of Building C (see pictures below).

When opened, the defibrillator gives voice instructions for resuscitation and application of electrodes to the patient's body (the instructions are in Czech, but you can switch the language to English). This defibrillator allows rescuers to perform CPR even while the device is analysing cardiac activity. The AED uses electrodes to assess the patient's condition and generates an electrical discharge autonomously as needed.
The disposable sticking electrodes and battery in the defibrillator must be replaced after each incident when the device was used.
