Integration of SOGo to the Thunderbird client (older version)

This instructions describe how to integrate SOGo into the Thunderbird client program. If you are not confident about configuring the integration yourself, please contact the support team. The manual is valid for Thunderbird 91.2.1 and higher, for older client versions some plug-ins may differ and their long-term functionality is not guaranteed, so it is recommended to upgrade to a newer version. To fully connect to the SOGo server, the Thunderbird client must have installed and activated Provider for CalDAV & CardDAV a TbSync.

  1. In Thunderbird, select the Tools from the menu bar and click on Add-ons and Themes and then click on Extension.
  2. In the Extensions section at the top right, search for both add-ons and add them to Thunderbird.
  3. Close and restart Thunderbird to complete the installation.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Contacts integration and calendars connection

You can make these settings only through the TBSync extension, which provides everything you need to connect contacts and calendars. In the lower right corner, press the notification TbSync: Idle, where the add-on configuration will open.

 

In the add-on settings, select Add New Account and then CalDav & CardDav.

  • Select Automatic Configuration Setup here
  • Fill in the IOCB account name here
  • Username and password for your mail account
  • And finally the server URL: sogo.uochb.cas.cz

 

 

 

Once you have successfully logged in, enable synchronization, then you can set what you want to sync to your mail client:

  • IOCB Addressbook – all e-mail addresses of IOCB employees,
  • IOCB Groups – list of all groups and e-mail contact to group leader,
  • Personal contacts on Sogo (if you use them, they can be synchronized in both directions, i.e. changes will be reflected on both sides).
  • You can also sync your Sogo calendars, even those shared with other users.
  • The last option determines how often automatic synchronization occurs.
  • We recommend 60 minut, more frequent synchronization is unnecessary.
  • Finally, press the Synchronize now button for initial synchronization.

 

 
  • Synchronized contacts appear below contacts in Thunderbird application and are always marked with the name of the account you entered (in our case SOGo).
  • Synchronized calendars are displayed in the calendar, also with the account name.
