Applicant Female scientists (Czech nationals or foreign nationals who have been doing research in the Czech Republic for at least 1 year). Applicants must be aged 40 or less on 31 December 2022.

Criteria
  • Applicants must be women scientists aged 40 or less on 31 Dec 2022 with a Ph.D. degree in the Formal sciences (e.g. Information Technology and Information Science and Mathematics) or Life and environmental sciences (e.g. Biological, Clinical, Basic Medical and Health Sciences) – see guidelines for full list.
  • Relevant research to be implemented in the Czech Republic for the length of the following one year.
  • If animal experiments are carried out, these must be described in detail. Their necessity or the lack of alternatives must be justified.
  • The award of 200,000 CZK to be used to support research in the Czech Republic.
  • The winners agree to participate in media training, to participate in the official events organized in 2023/2024 around the topic “For Women in Science”.
  • The winners agree to keep the announcement of the results confidential until the official announcement.
  • The winners expressly authorize UNESCO and the L’Oréal Group including all subsidiaries to reproduce, represent and use their Image, in the Czech Republic and worldwide.

  • Supervisor agrees with the submission of the diploma thesis to the competition and with the processing of his/her personal data.
  • The research quality of the diploma thesis and the contribution to the current state of knowledge are the main evaluation criteria.
  • Participants who have not been awarded in the previous year can apply with their original work again.
  • When participants achieve further results, they may apply for another category (e.g. Best dissertation, Most significant result of basic research, etc.)
  • The special award of the CEO of Siemens for Excellence in Women's Scientific Work: All published results by women who ranked first in the Best Diploma Thesis, Best Dissertation, Most Important Basic Research Result are automatically included in the evaluation. They may be nominated on the recommendation of expert juries if the work is exceptional in any way.

  • The age limit of 40 years is on the date of the call deadline, career breaks are excluded from this limit; the limit can be extended by 3 years per child (length of maternity/parental leave must be confirmed with a solemn declaration).
  • In case of a team result, one member of the team may be over the age of 40.
  • Only a published (finished) research result can be submitted to the competition.
  • The research result was published between 01 Jan 2018 and 30 Nov 2022.
  • A project description is a mandatory part of the application.
  • There are no limits of number of applications per one institution.
  • Team members can be part of an unlimited number of applications, only one application per team leader can be submitted.

  • Currently enrolled in a Ph.D. study at a Czech institution or has defended his/her Ph.D. in 2022 or 2021;
  • of Czech or Slovak nationality;
  • younger than 33 years on 01 May 2022;
  • author of at least one scientific article published or accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed international journal;
  • his/her Ph.D. study does not collude with any work for the Solvay company.
  • An Internship must take place in a French research centre (selected by awardee).
  • Awardee must confirm an internship to the French Embassy by 31 Jan 2022, and the internship must finished before 15 Dec 2023.
  • The support must be used for the internship and not for a postdoc contract.

  • Applicants must be women scientists below the age of 40 on 31 Oct 2022 with a Ph.D. degree in the Formal sciences (e.g. Information Technology and Information Science and Mathematics) or Life and environmental sciences (e.g. Biological, Clinical, Basic Medical and Health Sciences) – see guidelines for full list.
  • Relevant research to be implemented in the Czech Republic.
  • If animal experiments are carried out, these must be described in detail. Their necessity or the lack of alternatives must be justified.
  • The award of 200,000 CZK to be used to support research in the Czech Republic.
  • The winners agree to participate in media training, to participate in the official events organized in 2022/2023 around the topic “For Women in Science”.
  • The winners agree to keep the announcement of the results confidential until the official announcement.
  • The winners expressly authorize UNESCO and the L’Oréal Group including all subsidiaries to reproduce, represent and use their Image, in the Czech Republic and worldwide.
