  • The research quality of the PhD thesis and the contribution to the current state of knowledge are the main evaluation criteria.
  • Participants who have not been awarded in the previous year can apply with their original work again.
  • When participants achieve further results, they may apply for another category (e.g. Most significant result of basic research, etc.)

Criteria
  • The age limit of 40 years is on the date of the call deadline, career breaks are excluded from this limit; the limit can be extended by 3 years per child (length of maternity/parental leave must be confirmed with a solemn declaration).
  • Only a published (finished) research result can be submitted to the competition.
  • The research result was published between 01 Jan 2019 and 30 Nov 2024.
  • A project description is a mandatory part of the application.
  • There are no limits of number of applications per one institution.
  • Team members can be part of an unlimited number of applications, only one application per team leader can be submitted.
  • All team members have to agree with the submission of the result to the competition and with the processing of their personal data.

Criteria
  • Currently enrolled in a Ph.D. study at a Czech institution or has defended his/her Ph.D. in 2023 or 2024;
  • of Czech or Slovak nationality;
  • younger than 33 years on 01 May 2024;
  • author of at least one scientific article published or accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed international journal;
  • his/her Ph.D. study does not collude with any work for the Sanofi company;
  • an Internship must take place in a French research centre (selected by awardee);
  • awardee must confirm an internship to the French Embassy by 31 Jan 2025, and the internship must be completed before 31 Dec 2025;
  • the support must be used for the internship and not for a postdoc contract.

Selection

Stage 1: Pre-selection by the CAS based on the pre-applications. Max. two applicants from the CAS institutes can be nominated to the stage 2.

Final deadline
  • Stage 1: Mon 04 Mar 2024 for the CAS pre-selection
  • Stage 2: Tue 09 Apr 2024 for the Nationwide Finals – IFP
Oral presentation 17 May 2024 – Applicant will present their Ph.D. research to the committee. Presentation shall be held in English
Evaluation results Within a week after selection committee’s meeting
Awarding ceremony June 2024 in Prague, French Embassy – Buquoy Palace
Awards
  • 1st Prize: 65 000 CZK, a stipend for a one-month internship in France
  • 2nd Prize: 40 000 CZK and a stipend for a one-month internship in France
  • 3rd Prize: 25 000 CZK

  1. Professional CV in English (incl. grants and awards received)
  2. List of publications (incl. IF and quartile)
  3. Annotation of the project that the candidate would present before the jury (max 0.5 page)
*All these documents must be send by applicant via the IOCB Project Office to the CAS Head Office


Stage II. Final Application for prize organiser (09 Apr 2024)*

  1. Applicant´s contact information
  2. Academic CV, including a list of publications with their ranking (in English)
  3. Summary of the research project that the candidate would present before the jury (max 0.5 page; in Czech and in English)
  4. Presentation of research activities and applicability prospects. The references can be indicated on additional pages (Word; max 5 pages; incl. figures; in English)
  5. Signed letter of recommendation written by the applicant’s scientific supervisor, presenting both the student and his/her research work
*All these documents should be put in PDF and sent by applicant in one zip file via e-mail to louis.augendre@ifp.cz. The title of the email and file should be as follow: “Sanofi-First letter of First name.Last name–IOCB CAS”
