What are the CAS research medals?
Awarded to the Czech and foreign scientists in recognition of outstanding achievements in given field of research and excellent results, having recognition at national level as well as worldwide.There are three relevant medals:
- The Jaroslav Heyrovský Honorary Medal for Merit in the Chemical Sciences
- The Gregor Johann Mendel Honorary Medal for Merit in the Biological Sciences
- The Jan Evangelista Purkyně Honorary Medal for Merit in the Biomedical Sciences


Who can be nominated for the CAS research medals?
Distinguish Czech or foreign researchers.
Why to nominate for the CAS research medals?
- It is recognition of candidate’s contribution to the science.
- Increased credibility and visibility of outstanding researcher.
When to nominate for the CAS research medals?
There are two deadlines a year: 31 March or 30 September
Please inform the IOCB Board about your interest to be nominated or suggest a suitable candidate. |
How to nominate for the CAS honorary medals?
- Find and read guidelines
- Fill in nomination template:
- Candidate name and contacts
- Characteristics of the candidate's research activities and contributions, list of results and publications. (For foreign candidates, describe the cooperation with the Czech research community)
- Other CAS Awards of the candidate
- Send the application to the IOCB Board ( Pavel Jungwirth pavel.jungwirth@uochb.cas.cz) for the Justification of the candidate's nomination.
- Submission to the CAS Head office: The signed application must be submitted electronically in docx and pdf format by e-mail to the address: scicounc@kav.casc.cz.
