What is the L'Oréal Award?

L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science, Czech Republic – talent program (L'Oréal Award) contributes to supporting of talented women scientists in the Czech Republic. See more details in: Summary  .

Who can apply for the L'Oréal Award?

  • Women scientists doing research in the Czech Republic for at least 1 year.
  • Applicants must be below the age of 40 on 31 December 2024.

Why apply for the L'Oréal Award?

  • It is a recognition of your scientific career.
  • It increases visibility and recognition among the scientific community.
  • You can get a financial award of 200,000 CZK.

When to apply for the L'Oréal Award?

The nomination deadline has been extended to Mon 6 Jan 2025 (IOCB deadline Fri 13 Dec 2024 if you require an IOCB recommendation letter).

How to apply for the L'Oréal Award?

  1. Find and read guidelines:
  2. Establish your account at L'Oréal online platform and fill an online application form (contact details; abstract – 200 words).
  3. Prepare all parts of your application (in English):
    • Motivation letter (max 1 page)
    • Description of the proposed research in the 12 months following receipt of the award (max 2 pages)
    • Professional CV
    • List of publications with citations according to Web of Sciences
    • List of the best publications with a short description of the importance of the results
    • Copy of your Ph.D. degree
    • Copies of documents approving animal work (if applicable)
  4. Contact your superior researcher and ask for a Recommendation letter (if applicable).
  5. Contact Project Office to secure a Recommendation letter from the IOCB Director (Please provide us with your application documents) and proof of employment (if not of Czech nationality).
  6. Complete and upload your application documents: (PDF format only)
    • Online application form
    • Motivation letter (max 1 page)
    • Description of the proposed research in the 12 months following receipt of the award (max 2 pages)
    • Professional CV
    • List of publications with citations according to Web of Sciences
    • List of the best publications with a short comments as to the importance of the results
    • A copy of Ph.D. degree
    • Recommendation letter of your superior researcher (if applicable)
    • Recommendation letter of the IOCB Director (optional, Project Office & IOCB Director)
    • If relevant: copies of ethics committee’s approval of animal work
    • If relevant: Proof of employment – for scientists with foreign nationality only (Project Office)
  7. Submit your application via at L'Oréal online platform before Mon 6 Jan 2025 (IOCB deadline Fri 13 Dec 2024 if you require an IOCB recommendation letter). Please inform the Project Office about your interest to apply (by e-mail).


Twelve finalists will be shortlisted in February 2025. The selected finalists will present their projects to the jury (April 2025). The results will be communicated by email to the winners at the end of the evaluation process, and these must be kept confidential until the official announcement, which will take place at the official announcement ceremony in June 2025.
