Who can be nominated for the Hlávka Award?
Talented undergraduate or graduate students up to 33 years old, who have demonstrated outstanding skills and creative thinking in their field, and talented early career researchers of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
Why nominate for the Hlávka Award?
- It is a recognition of the candidate’s quality and her/his contribution to the current state of knowledge.
- To increase credibility and visibility of early career researcher.
- To receive a certificate and a financial bonus of 30,000 CZK.
When to nominate for the Hlávka Award?
- The nomination is annually: July.
- The nomination must be submitted via the Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS). Deadlines for individual stages of the process are announced annually via the CAS Head Office.
The nomination is a two stage process:
- Stage 1: the CAS pre-selection – late June
- Stage 2: Hlávka Foundation deadline – late July
The nearest deadline:
Stage 1: 30 June 2025 (IOCB deadline 15 June 2025 – approval by the IOCB Board required)
How to nominate for the Hlávka Award?
- Find and read guidelines:
- Prepare the nomination documentation
- Structured CV of the candidate (candidate)
- Nomination Letter (Group leader)
- Send the nomination to the IOCB Board (awards@uochb.cas.cz) for the approval.
- The IOCB Board will select 1-2 candidates and send the IOCB nominations to the secretariat of the CAS Vice President for the Life and Chemical Sciences.
- The CAS President will submit the selected candidates on behalf of the CAS (max. 5 candidates) to the Board of Trustees of the Josef, Marie, and Zdeňka Hlávka Foundation.
