What is the Eppendorf Award for Young European Investigators?
The Eppendorf Award for Young European Investigators was first established in 1995 on the occasion of Eppendorf’s 50th anniversary. It is granted annually to European researchers not older than 35 years. It acknowledges outstanding contributions to biomedical research in Europe based on methods of molecular biology, including novel analytical concepts. Young researchers not older than 35 years with an advanced degree who are performing biomedical research in Europe based on methods of molecular biology, including novel analytical concepts.

When to apply for the Eppendorf Award for Young European Investigators?
The calls for application open on 1 Oct each year through Online Application Form and applications must be submitted by mid January. The winner is selected by an independent expert committee chaired by Reinhard Jahn (Director Emeritus at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Göttingen, Germany) and will be announced in March. The Award is presented to the winner at a ceremony in EMBL Training Centre in Heidelberg in late June.

How to apply for the Eppendorf Award for Young European Investigators?
- Find and read guidelines
- Prepare a CV
- Write an essay summarizing your research (max 2,000 characters including spaces)
- Write a short description of your major discovery
- Prepare a publication list and PDF files of your publications (min 3 – max 5). Note that the papers submitted will be evaluated with respect
to the following five selection criteria:
- Independent scientific worke
- Creativity (independent of instructions from head of institute)e
- Successful practical application of research approache
- Significance of research results for the field of medicinee
- Achievement of candidate in relation to his/her age
- Finalise your application and submit this via the online application form on www.eppendorf.com/award/application
by the deadline (mid January). Your application data should be filled in in one step and must include:
- your personal data*
- your curriculum vitae
- a title describing the subject of your research*
- an essay of max. 2,000 characters (incl. spaces) summarizing your research*
- a short description of your major discovery*
- your publication list
- PDF files of your published papers (min. 3 - max. 5)
