What is the DAAD Research Stays?

The aim of DAAD Research Stays is to support short-term research stays and thus promote exchange of experience and networking amongst colleagues. For more details see DAAD Research Stays 2025 / DAAD Research Stays 2025-II  .

Who can apply for the DAAD Research Stays?

Postdoc or researcher (Ph.D. holder), group leaders.

Why apply for the DAAD Research Stays?

When to apply for the DAAD Research Stays?

The nearest DAAD Research Stays deadline is on Fri 15 Nov 2024 23:59 CET and Wed 30 Apr 2025 23:59 CEST.

There are 2 cut-offs this year:

  • 2 May for stays that start between Dec of the same year and May of the following year
  • 15 Nov for stays that start between June and Nov of the following year

How to apply for the DAAD Research Stays?

  1. Find and read programme guidelines:
  2. Negotiate your study visit with colleague from selected German Institution and ask him/her for a confirming letter. This must refer to your proposal and guarantee that a workplace will be provided.
  3. Establish your DAAD-Portal account (https://www.mydaad.de/en/) and choose the relevant call. Please note that application portal opens about 6 weeks before the deadline.   4. Download and complete the online application form.
  5. Prepare and upload the application documents: (PDF format only)
    • CV in tabular form (max. 3 pages)
    • List of publications (max. 10 pages)
    • Comprehensive statement about research (max. 10 pages)
    • Time schedule and itinerary
    • Letter from host confirming academic cooperation
  6. Submit your online application before Fri 15 Nov 2024 23:59 CET and Wed 30 Apr 2025 23:59 CEST.

The project start date is expected to be: 01 June– 30 Nov 2025 for November cut-off and 01 Dec 2025 – 31 May 2026 for April cut-off.
