What is the ETH Fellows
ETH Zürich Postdoctoral Fellowship Program (ETH Fellows) supports incoming fellowships for postdoctoral researchers at the ETH Zürich. The program is intended to foster young researchers who have already demonstrated scientific excellence in the early stages of their careers.
Who can apply for the ETH Fellows?
Postdocs of any nationality with a Ph.D. defended max. 2 years prior or 6 months after the submission deadline originating in an institution other than the ETH Zürich or the University of Zürich. . Applications have to be supported by an ETH Zurich professor who is willing to act as the mentor of the fellow.

There are two cut-offs for the ETH Fellows in 2024:- Mon 03 Mar 2025 17:00 Swiss local time (1st cut-off)
- Mon 01 Sep 2025 17:00 Swiss local time (2nd cut-off)

How to apply for the ETH Fellows?
- Find and read programme guidelines:
- Establish contact with an ETH host professor and negotiate your postdoc position, discuss your potential research project and the institutional support with him/her. You should make this contact well in advance of the application deadline.
- Ask the host professor for an Invitation Letter and prepare your application jointly in ETH Zurich grant application system eResearch - must be operated by an ETH employee.
- Contact two referees and ask them for a Reference Letter, and ask them to send this document (scan of signed PDF) by email directly to the ETH Grants Office to ethfellows@sl.ethz.ch no latter than 10 days before the submission deadline.
- Provide information that need to be filled in the ETH submission platform (a suggestion of 4 name of reviewers your contact details.

Fill in all parts of your application:
- A description of the research (project details; ETH_Fellows-2025_Project Description Part 1
);
- A description of the research (accompanying information; ETH_Fellows-2025_Project Description Part 2
);
- a brief outline of the career goals of the candidate (1p);
- a complete CV of the candidate including lists of publications;
- a brief CV of the host professor (2p);
- if relevant: ethical issues and research requiring authorization or notification form;
- optional: certification of planned Ph.D. defense date signed by advisor or head of department if Ph.D. is not yet completed.

- To finalize your application: Upload all 4 parts and the Invitation Letter to the ETH submission platform: in pdf – submitted as separate documents.
