What are the CAS honorary medals?

There are three types of the CAS honorary medals:

• De scientia et humanitate optime meritis is awarded for particularly meritorious work, promotion of humanities ideas and outstanding results, having recognition at national level as well as worldwide.
• The Vojtěch Náprstek Honorary Medal for Merit in Science Popularization is awarded to publicists and scientists for significant, lifelong and systematic contribution to the popularization of science.
• The Honorary Medal for Merit for the Czech Academy of Sciences is awarded to scientists and other experts for extraordinary activities in the field of science management and a research infrastructure development.

Who can be nominated for the CAS honorary medals?

Distinguish Czech or foreign personality.

Why to nominate for the CAS honorary medals?

• It is recognition of candidate’s contribution to the science.
• Increased credibility and visibility of outstanding researcher.

When to nominate for the CAS honorary medals?

There are two deadlines a year: 31 March or 30 September

Please inform the IOCB Board about your interest to be nominated or suggest a suitable candidate.

How to nominate for the CAS honorary medals?

2. Fill in nomination template:
   • Candidate name and contacts
   • Characteristics of the candidate's research activities and contributions, list of results and publications. (For foreign candidates, describe the cooperation with the Czech research community)
   • Other CAS Awards of the candidate
3. Send the application to the IOCB Board (Pavel Jungwirth pavel.jungwirth@uochb.cas.cz) for the Justification of the candidate's nomination.
4. Submission to the CAS Head office: The signed application must be submitted electronically in docx and pdf format by e-mail to the address: scicounc@kav.casc.cz.
