Awarding of excellent and promising early career researchers at the CAS Institutes for their significant contribution to the advancement of scientific knowledge in a given area of of science. See more details in: Summary

Who can be nominated for the Otto Wichterle award?
Early career researcher up to 35 years old, holder Ph.D., Dr. or DSc. The age limit is extended by the period of maternity or parental leave.
Why to nominate for the Otto Wichterle award?
- Financial stimulation to promising young early career researchers for their significant contribution to the advancement of scientific knowledge (certificate and subsidy of up to 110,000 CZK (plus social and health insurance/year for the duration of 3 years).
- Increased credibility and visibility of top early career researchers.
When to nominate for the Otto Wichterle award?
31 March annually

How to nominate for the Otto Wichterle award?
- Find and read guidelines
- Fill in nomination template:
- Candidate name and contacts, workload, scientific degree
- Justification of the proposal
- In attachment: CV of the candidate, list of publications including citations
- Submit nomination documents for the IOCB Board approval (mandatory) by e-mail: awards@uochb.cas.cz).
- Submission to the CAS Head office: The approved nomination will be send by the IOCB Secretariat via data box to the CAS (
