Data management is the overall process in which we handle data from their generation or re-use, through processing and analysis, to sharing and archiving. This process is often represented in a clear and concise flowchart, commonly referred to as the data lifecycle (see the diagram).

Our institute fosters a progressive, change-driven environment and is supported by an in-house data management team. This team
develops services, resources, and tools to assist you during periods of systemic change, particularly as Czech law and funding
bodies evolve to align with European policy for open science. IOCB has adopted a data policy supporting open data and adherence
to FAIR principles.
Open Data | Data are available freely for anyone to access, share, use, or modify without restrictions. Open data use is governed by an open license attached to the data, often acknowledging the author. |
FAIR | Data that have been planned, created, processed, analyzed, preserved, and reused in line with principles defining data as Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable. By following these principles, you ensure the best practice for data management. Explore the individual principles. In very simple terms, such data and accompanying metadata are easy to find, easy to access, and easy to open and work with. |
