Are you about to have a great paper published? Or are you going to be awarded? Don't keep this news to yourself - the Communication Department can process it in different ways and make it known to the Czech and international public or make it more visible within the Institute.
Who to let know and why?
Contact Veronika Sedláčková and Oldřich Hudeček from Communications and explain what it is about. If it is an article, in two or three clear sentences describe its topic and contribution and the expected date of publication. We will help you to communicate your achievements on the external and internal IOCB channels.
When to tell us about the article?
If we know about the publication in advance, it‘s a win-win situation for us and for you - we can better prepare the communication together. So it's best if we hear about an article as soon as it has been accepted for publication. However, even if we find out about your paper at the last minute, it’s still not a lost case. It's a pity when a good publication reaches us by pure chance and with a delay, because we can no longer benefit fully from its potential.
What will we do with your information?
We will discuss the article with you and assess how to communicate it further. We consider each case individually, taking into account several factors - the expected date of publication, the topic of the article and its clarity for the general public, the importance of the discovery, the quality of the journal, the share of IOCB authors, first authorship, an interesting story, other communication plans, etc. After considering all the circumstances, we will suggest an appropriate form of media output.
What types of outputs can you expect?
Most often, these are posts on social media and the Institute's website, sometimes accompanied by short videos or photos. In some cases, we will suggest the preparation of a press release, which can be followed up by arranging interviews for specific media coverage. We may also feature some topics in the CHEmic podcast. Internally, we can take care of publicizing achievements on signage screens at the Institute.
If you are approached by the journalist for an interview or comment on a specific topic:
Contact the Institute's spokesperson Veronika Sedláčková.
In principle, you should only speak to media that you know and trust and that do not pose a threat to your reputation or that of the Institute.
You should only comment on topics that are your own, i.e. those that concern you personally, your expertise or your project, in consultation with
your supervisor (if you have one) or the PI of the project.
What we are responsible for:
