GAČR - EXPRO projects
What is the GAČR EXPRO?
The aim of the EXPRO projects is to create conditions for development of excellent research, to set standards of excellent science, to enable obtaining necessary knowledge and experience that pays off when submitting highly prestigious European grants. Only projects that reasonably expect to achieve excellent scientific results of international significance, with a crucial contribution of the research team to their achievement, may be supported. The successful EXPRO project must result in submission of the ERC project proposal.
Who can apply for the GAČR EXPRO?
Experienced researchers working in the field of basic research from research organizations: research institutes, universities, higher education institutions, and other legal entities seated in CR focused on R&D. The project proposal has to be submitted by one main proposer/organization, collaboration of max. one partner institution is possible.The applicant must be an internationally recognized researcher ; author (co-author) of recent top-quality publications with a high citation rate; successful principal investigator /co-investigator of the national or international project.

- Inform the Project office about your intention to apply (send an email with the type of project and Evaluation Panel choice to projectoffice@uochb.cas.cz) (by Thu 29 Feb 2024)
- Prepare the off-line parts of your project proposal: :
- Part C1: justification of project proposal (up to 15 pages font size 11, single spacing, 6 MB, in English).
- Part D1: CV of the applicant and co-applicant (up to 2 pages; font size 11, single spacing, 1 MB, in English).
- Complete all parts of your project proposal in the GRIS application:
- Part A: basic identification data, abstract (1100 characters), aims of the project (300 characters), keywords, field classification (in Czech and English).
- Part B: total funding, breakdown of financial items, incl. justification, detailed structure of personnel costs (in English).
- Part C2: expected project results (in English).
- Part D2: bibliography and other achieved results (track record) of the applicant (in English).
- Part E: information on other projects of the applicant and co-applicant (in English).
- Send your budget for checking (projectoffice@uochb.cas.cz). To do this, send your auxiliary calculation spreadsheet (provided by the Project Office upon request) and a draft proposal version (generated by GRIS) already containing the budget justification section (part B) (by Thu 7 Mar 2024).
- For IOCB official approval please complete form in the electronic project proposal approval system. Please complete this only after your budget has been approved by the Project Office.
- Send a complete draft proposal (PDF generated by GRIS) for a formal check of its content (Part C1 - need not be complete at this stage) by Mon 25 Mar 2024 8:00 AM.
- Send a Part C1 or complete draft proposal (PDF generated by GRIS) for a formal check of Part C1 content by Mon 25 Mar 2024 8:00 AM.
- After approval by the Project office you will be asked to send a final PDF version of project proposal generated in GRIS system.
- Finalise your project proposal:
- Do an error check (top right-hand corner – if error-free, the button “report chyb” [error report] will change to “finalizovat” [finalize]).
- By clicking “finalizovat”, generate the final project proposal named “_CZ_f.pdf”. Using the icon “Uložit” [save], save the final PDF in GRIS.
- Send this PDF without any further modification to projectoffice@uochb.cas.cz.
- After generating the final PDF version, the project proposal MUST NOT be modified or opened in the GRIS application – breach of the electronic seal is a valid reason for excluding the proposal from the tender.
- The final proposal will be submitted by the Project Office to GA ČR via the data box (byThu 7 Apr 2022). Wait for our message confirming submission and for further instructions. We will require your cooperation with a check of the electronic seal.
- The project proposal will be submitted to GAČR through the data box system by the final deadline of Wed 3 Apr 2024 – will be taken care of by the Project Office. The Statutory declaration will be submitted by the Project Office.
Final results of the evaluation will be announced by 31 Oct 2024.
The project implementation must start on 1 Jan 2025.
