Restart Grants
What is the GA ČR Restart Grants?
Restart Grants (RG) provide support to excellent scientists while enabling them to restart their careers after a career break (for a minimum of 1 year) due to parental leave or caring for a dependent.
Who can apply for the GA ČR Restart Grants?
Researchers:
- Max. 10 years since PhD (MD/RD is not counted), and the proposer must have defended his/her PhD thesis by the date of the competition announcement at the latest (PhD awarded between 12.2.2015 and 12.2.2025).
- o max.2 years after a career break (i.e. a career break of at least 1 year due to parental leave or care of a dependent terminated later than 12.2.2023).
Only one applicant must be listed in the project proposal.
Why apply for the GA ČR Restart Grants?
- Obtaining financial support for 2-4 years for an individual project (50-100% of the principal investigator), possibility of student`s and technician`s involvement.
- Funding for personal and material costs, possibility to claim childcare costs.
- Opportunity to extend the grant for up to 4 years with an aliquot reduction in FTE.

- Inform the Project office about your intention to apply (send an email with the type of project and Evaluation Panel choice to projectoffice@uochb.cas.cz) (by Tue 25 Feb 2025)
- Prepare off-line parts of your project proposal: :
- Part C1: justification of project proposal (up to 10 pages; font size 11, single spacing ; 6 MB).
- Part D1: CV of the applicant and co-applicants; (up to 2 pages/person; font size 11, single spacing, 1 MB).
- Complete all parts of your project proposal in the GRIS application:
- Part A: basic identification data, abstract (1100 characters), aims of the project (300 characters), keywords, field cassificatiod.
- Part B: total funding, breakdown of financial items, incl. justification, detailed structure of personnel costs.
- Part C2: expected project results.
- Part D2: bibliography of the applicant.
- Part D2: other achieved results.
- Part E: information on other projects of the applicant and co-applicants.
- Send your budget for checking (projectoffice@uochb.cas.cz). To do this, send your auxiliary calculation spreadsheet (provided by the Project Office upon request) and a draft proposal version (generated by GRIS) already containing the budget justification section (part B) (by Tue 4 Mar 2025).
- For IOCB official approval please complete form in the electronic project proposal approval system. Please complete this only after your budget has been approved by the Project Office.
- Send a complete draft proposal (PDF generated by GRIS) for a formal check of its content by Tue 18 Mar 2025.
- Send a Part C1 or complete draft proposal (PDF generated by GRIS) for a formal check of content by Thu 27 Mar 2025.
- IOCB internal deadline for sending the final GRIS-generated PDF version of the project By Mon 31 March 2025.

[save], save the final PDF in GRIS. - Send this PDF without any further modification to projectoffice@uochb.cas.cz.
- After generating the final PDF version, the project proposal MUST NOT be modified or opened in the GRIS application – breach of the electronic seal is a valid reason for excluding the proposal from the tender.
- The final proposal will be submitted by the Project Office to GA ČR via the data box. Wait for our message confirming submission and for further instructions. We will require your cooperation with a check of the electronic seal.

Final results of the evaluation will be announced by 28 Nov 2025.
The project implementation must start on 1 Jan 2026.
