What is the M-ERA.NET?

M-ERA.NET is an EU funded network which has been established to support and increase the coordination of European research programmes and related funding in materials science and engineering. The M-ERA.NET consortium is operating as a single innovative and flexible network of public funding organisations. The aim is to fund ambitious transnational RTD projects addressing materials research and innovation including materials for low carbon energy technologies, future batteries technology and related production technologies. M-ERA.NET aims to strengthen the contribution of materials R&D to energy-related applications where applicable. The TA ČR program ERA-NET Cofund supports participation of the Czech teams. Who can apply for the M-ERA.NET?

Consortium (represented by a coordinator) consisting of at least 3 partners from at least 2 different countries participating in the call (at least from 2 EU member states or associated countries). Small to medium sized projects (3-5 partners on average) are expected.

How to apply for the M-ERA.NET?

  1. Find and read programme guidelines:
  2. Identify relevant project partners and further team members you would like to work with.
  3. Negotiate and justify roles, activities and responsibilities of all partners in the project.
  4. Designate the main Project Coordinator of the consortium, who will be responsible for a submission of the joint proposal via electronic submission system.
  5. Negotiate with the IOCB Director the funding source of the mandatory co-funding of your project (15% of co-funding is required by TA ČR).
  6. Complete the project request form    to request official IOCB agreement with the project submission.
  7. Together with other PIs elaborate the research idea. Work tightly with the other PIs and allow time for others to review the draft proposal. The information given in the pre-proposal is binding.
  8. Role of the Project Partner

    P1) Discuss the proposal with all project partners and prepare your parts for the joint pre-proposal M-ERA.NET application form - use template   and be ready to provide information for online section of the application.
    • Identification of participating organisation IOCB (incl. PIC);
    • Your financial plan (items description, costs);
    • Team qualification in the field of proposal;
    • Participate on preparation of the joint project description part.

C1) Register the joint project proposal in the electronic submission system and complete online sections of the application.

PART - PROPOSAL DETAILS:

  • Title of the project, acronym, selected topic;
  • Key words, TRL (on the beginning and the end of project);
  • Project summary;
  • Date of the start of realization and duration of the project.

PART - PROJECT PARTNER:

  • Identification of participating organisations (incl. PIC);
  • Financial plan (items description, costs; PM).

C2) Coordinate the preparation of the offline joint proposal - use template  . Pre-proposal (max. 22 pages, incl. tables); Full proposal (max. 40 pages, incl. tables)

  • Summary, Relevance to programme;
  • Consortium overview;
  • Project description (Excellence, Impact, Implementation);
  • Cost calculation;
  • Ethical issue, Environment, health and safety issues, Gender relevance;
  • Checklist for the coordinator.

C3) Finalize the offline application form and make a PDF from the final version. Upload the application form to the project account into the electronic submission system. Be sure that the data provided to the electronic system are identical with data in the offline application form. It is possible to edit or retract your proposal any time until the submission deadline.

Be aware that eligible costs and funding provisions may vary according to the respective national/regional funding organizations regulation.

  1. Complete mandatory national application to the TA ČR
    • TA ČR application form (identification of a participant, budget (in €), outputs (applicant & Project Office);
    • A Sworn statement of the applicant (Project Office);
    • Other documentation if applicable.

Deadline for submission of the joint Pre-proposal (done by the Project Coordinator) and national application to the TA ČR is on Tue 15 Jun 2021 (IOCB deadline Fri 11 Jun 2021).


Timetable of the next steps:
  • Results of Pre-proposals assessment by Sep/Oct 2021 (the application template and guidelines for the Full-proposal stage will be provided only to the project coordinators of successful consortia).
  • Deadline for Full-proposal submission is on Wed 17 Nov 2021 12:00 noon Brussels time (IOCB deadline Mon 15 Nov 2021).
  • Final results will be announcement in Feb 2022.
  • The grant start date: Mar – May 2022.
